MMM2 Card Challenge Guide

Ultimate Traffic Clearance Challenge

Prevent the evil vehicles from, uh, reaching the other side of the screen (bastards!) to unlock the Origami Crane card.
  • Wave 15 Completed – You need to load up "Scenario" mode and reach the 16th wave. Your progress indicates the wave you're currently on.

This guide is here to help you get the card, this will not explain how to get the badges (yet), but it will get you halfway to the hard one.

The Basics:

1) You control an "energy ball silo" Which is apparently connected to and underground system of underpaid and lazy scientists, since you have to prove your worth by killing the enemies to get them to do research ;).

2) The enemies typically come from the right side, so position your silo on the left (more details later). You have to click the energy ball in the middle, and drag it back like so:
Then, once you have your desired velocity (how far back you pull it) and your aim. You let go and slingshot the ball at the enemy. Be warned however, the harder you fling it, the less stable it gets. If it is too unstable it may blow up as you launch it and damage your building. So be careful! Try to balance it out between power and stability.

3) Power-ups. Some enemies drop power-ups, which you collect by clicking on. They then go to the top of the screen, and displays a timer, when the timer runs out, so does your use of that power up. Example: What these 3 do, the Black hole one allows you to fire a ball that sucks in surrounding tanks, and crushes them against each other. The Hourglass disable all cooldown times (the time until you can do ______ again. It is cut to zero). And the orange + sign regenerates your Silo's health.

There are plenty more power-ups out there, but I'll let you guys discover what each one does!!!

4) Angling Shots: Sometimes it is best to aim right for an enemy tank, but other times is is better to bank an energy ball off of a wall, and into that tank. Send it into tanks. Here is an example:
That is an example of when you might want to bank a shot, so one tank hit another and creates a chain reaction.

Hints and Tips

Always check see where your enemies are coming from, and plan accordingly, typically the come from the right side, but sometimes they switch it up, they can come from both sides, or just from the left side. So be sure to pay attention around level 12+ Example: It is also very helpful to invest 1 point in a weapons upgrade, as the 2nd ball you get uses less energy. I would also suggest getting 7 extra points in stability. As well as some energy upgrades. these are my suggestions, after those, keep upgrading and find what works best for you!

Remember that Tanks hitting other tanks, does more damage the hitting tanks with missles, so always try to bunch the tanks together and smash 'em all up. The nuclear tanks are also helpful to keep close to big tanks, when they explode, they sometimes create a nuclear reaction, killing most of the tanks near them.

Another thing you can do, when enemies are close, put your energy ball on top of their tank, and let go. This will cause the ball to stay inside of their tank, thus killing it. A useful strategy for high health escapees ;) But keep in mind, when it explodes it hurts your structure (if its too close) so be careful!!!

CC’s [New] Weekly Review; Santa Caught Christmas!

Santa Caught Christmas!

My rating: 4.5/5 (For the addiction factor)

What better way to get in the Christmas spirit, than with games? Sure… family is good, but games, games will always be there for you.

The premise of this game is that the elves are on STRIKE, shortly after making the presents; they then rigged up some tennis ball machines, and are now forcing Santa to catch ALL the gifts this year!

What a twist! So now, you have to control santa and catch as many gifts as you can, but be careful though… Santa can only do so much in one trip! He starts slowing down, and if you have him carry too many presents, other presents will start bouncing off!

This is one of those “addicting” type games, you know, the type you play to beat the highscore of a friend, and that’s what I like to do, beat down my friends high score list, unfortunately, this has never happened… oh well. :-/

The basic controls are somewhat generic, but they get the job done. Its all your arrow keys; ^ to make him jump, > to make him go right, <>

I haven’t found too much use for the jump, but you can try to catch up with some presents that way. As for the arrow keys, they are a little touchy, and react very quickly. So try to be able to sit down with the game for a couple rounds to get used to it.

Final Tip: Unload all your presents into the sleigh for bonus points, especially at the end.

Santa Caught Christmas!

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this, and that you will hopefully enjoy the game!

Serious Business Challenge

It's time to fight back against teh l33t hax0rz pwning teh innerwebs! Hone your skillz in Breach to unlock the Healing Salve card and protect the sacred Lolcats forever!

The Chosen One Zero One Badge (hard – 30 points)
Complete the first 5 levels to unlock Infinity Mode, then survive for 101 seconds in Breach

The gameplay is quite simple really. You are a "Pod" in a computers hard drive and you are trying to get past the Virus (red and green) and make it out alive... Think of it as your last brain cell trying to live after you have had "One too many" for 30 years ;P

The controls consist solely of your Mouse to move and Click it to fire... It plays like a mouse avoider, but with an interesting twist. You can shoot the barriers in front of you (only the green ones, Red ones are invulnerable) to open up a path when it forms a complete wall. The levels get harder by adding even more twists: (Obstacles for each level)

Level 1: Standard green viral blocks
Level 2: Indestructible red wall blocks
Level 3: Random speed changes
Level 4: Random pauses
Level 5: Explosive orange hazard blocks

The final level is what you unlock after beating Level 5... It is called infinity Mode and is what the hard badge is for...

Infinity mode is even harder than Level 5, but there is 1 simple trick/its variation which can help. A little before coming up to a wall hit "Alt" (should be beside your windows Key for windows user, or right click using your mouse... both do the same thing, and what happens is when you do that, the "Pod" is no longer controlled by your mouse, and just floats... Till you click on the other side of your obstacle, with some practice you can skip by half a page without losing any lives!

Another tip is this, when you do lose a life you become invincible for bout 3 seconds, during this time I suggest you get as far to the right as you can, as you will not lose any lives for going through red or green blocks while you are in your "Gray State".

The best thing you can do though is just practice, and get used to dodging. Try to use your peripheral vision to see ahead and think of the best spots to go. Most of all, have fun! Come into the van and you can chat with 2DArray, he is in there most of the day.

If you need specific help in any game, or challenge, just track me down and ask, I'll do my best to help you, and if I can't... I'll find someone who can! =D

Understanding ColourPod

The wonderful insight in this guide is brought to you by crazycruiser and chitown15... Enjoy!!!

ColourPod is a basic defense shooter, with two main
goals:

(1 collect colored pixels.
(2 shoot all the gray pixels before they reach your turret.

First off, the bar on the backside of your turret is your collector(Called your "Colour Lens").
*IMPORTANT* This is NOT a shield, if you try to block a gray pixel with it, you will lose some of your life "points".

The more colored pixels you collect the more your various weapons will be upgraded. Basically, all the "leveling up" of your weapons does is decrease the reload time.

Here's what the four colour weapons do. (1 Red, red is your basic
turret gun, and you get it automatically from the start. To shoot a red laser FRAGM3NT :D just click your left mouse button... (Might want to try aiming too =P)
(2 The blue weapon, Ah, my favorite weapon of all... what I affectionately call the BLUE NUCLEAR BOMB OF DEATH... It wipes the screen clear of all gray pixels... you know those evil ones bent on interstellar domination... To use this weapon simply press your Spacebar

(3 Green, the green color refills some of you lost health it does
this automatically, you don't have to press anything. (Finally, an automatic weapon)

(4 Yellow, yellow slows down incoming pixels for a
short amount of time, thus allowing you to shoot the crap out of them :) use the yellow weapon by pressing your "S" button on your keyboard.

I found the best strategy is to protect your
health first, then collect as many coloured
pixels as possible. As you get to the later
levels make sure you go after large groups early. And
if you start to get overloaded use the follow code "Self-destruct sequence A2r3t... wait, nevermind... Just use your "blue bomb" (OF DEATH)
and then go after the new pixels as fast as you can.

Also for the medium badge you should get to 777 pixels, meh, around the... 6th level.

Well there isn't really anything else I can say [O.O]
It may take you a couple of tries, and that's fine. Remember,
this is a hard badge, it shouldn't be easy.

Hope this guide helped you to save a little piece of color in your world :].

The 2 C's...

Crazycruiser, and Chitown15. Most of the credit goes to chitown for this one (pronounced "shy-town", don't ask me... It is a bit weird xD) Thanks buddy!!!

Cocak entry...

General's Slaughter Badge (Hard - 30 Points)

The time for a true battle has come. Complete all 50 levels in the "general" difficulty setting in Shield Defense

(Note: If you only have 3 minutes or so to read this, skip to the bottom where the Summary is)

Alright, so you came here thinking you would get help for the General’s Slaughter badge?

Well you came to the right place! I’m here to dish out some tips, suggestions and help for all you Kongregators finding this badge difficult, I know I did!

So here’s the deal, The General’s Slaughter badge is in my opinion the hardest badge on Kongregate, with a touchpad at least. What you’re going to do is quite simple :), at the main menu select New Game, then select General level(doh!). I hope that if you are going for this badge you have already gotten the Card and Easy badge, but if not here is the basis of the game and mechanics:

You are a sole tank trying to fend off 50 waves of enemy tanks, you do so with your awesome blue “shield.” When the enemy fires bullets at you, all you have to do is something seemingly simple, just “deflect” their own bullets back at the enemy, to do so use your mouse, or touchpad to move your shield around your Tank, try to aim a little ahead of where they are so you will hit them, if you aim right at them it will most likely go just behind their tank., also account for the angle at which the bullet is coming at you, because the course of the bullet will change depending on where it comes in, you all know that right? I’m sure you’re all physics majors anyway.

As you progress through the levels, their tanks gain Hit Points (HP) so you will have to get more Damage accordingly to try to one-hit the enemies as long as possible.

Up until around level 3-4 you only have to worry about the Green tanks, but then the developer introduces a new threat to your success, a Blue tank. The blue tanks are really nothing different than the Green tanks for a little while(you can get the EMP bonus upgrade later to make them more useful), just deflect the bullets back at them and make easy work of them.

A little later in your game a Rocket Launching tank is introduced, nothing different again, just it has even slower bullets than the blue, but the bullets do more damage to enemy tanks, but the principal is still the same just try to deflect them at enemies, the only difference is that you will have to aim farther ahead of the enemy since it is much slower than other bullets… This is kind of getting repetitive already isn’t it? Well, not for long.

Along the way, while progressing through the levels I am sure you were smart enough to buy some damage infusions, 1-2 speed bounces, some repair kits, maybe even a Sticky shield (A must have), so I won’t concern you on the details of that, I will tell you though that I always buy a damage infusion after the First level, it should last you a couple of levels.

Now onto the Red tanks, they shoot fireballs at your poor, seemingly defenseless tank, how mean! We must get them back! TO YOUR DEFLECTING STATIONS!!! Errr.... nevermind :D

The fireballs are slower than the Blue tanks ammunition, yet faster than the Rockets, and they do the most damage.

That’s all the main tanks, the Blue and Red tanks both have bosses of their own which fire 3 bullets at once instead of 1 like normal, the Rocket and Green tanks fuse their bosses together to create one Mega Boss which appears every 10 levels, stronger every time.

Level Progression:

Level 10, My First Boss Level!!!

By this point you may have been able to buy the HeatSeeker missile “Bonus Upgrade” if so, GOOD ON YA MATE! Feel good about yourself!!! :D If not, don’t worry, just kill the boss within the allotted time and you get 3 bonus points, use them to get the HeatSeeker upgrade, as it helps tremendously. The next upgrade you should get is the AntiMatter shield, the game is pretty much unbeatable without it. It negates all bullets when it is activated, to activate either click, or push spacebar. Other than that I got the EMP 14% interest, and finally I got THE EXPLODER as my final upgrade.

Level 20, 2nd boss…

You should have some good damage upgrades so far, so this boss won’t be a big problem, but he is pretty tough, just deflect, deflect, and deflect. Make sure to kill him within the allotted time (2:30) or else it will skip the level and you miss out on the gold and bonus points.

Also, a helpful hint for the bosses… always kill the smaller tanks first, then go onto killing the boss.

Level 30… Boredom sets in?

By this time some people are bored, if that happens to be the case notice the SAVE GAME button at the upgrades menu, use this button every 2-3 levels near level 30, and in the 40’s use this button every level in case you die. That way you don’t have to start over.

Level 40… Having Fun yet?!?!

By now you can consider yourself a gamer, you have made it past partial boredom and come out on top, now the adrenaline of getting this badge is starting to kick in… just one problem, with the combination of Boredom, Excitement, and Adrenaline out come the problem of Lack of Concentration, which can lead to Sneezing, Coughing, Forgetting to pause on a trip to the Fridge, Severe headaches, and even DEATH.

Now you’re in the 40’s so you will be using your antimatter shield a lot, so be careful, only hit back shots you know will have no consequences, I lost 3 times at level 45 because I would go for too much, and take severe damage, so be careful.

Level 50: THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US ME LORD!

Me getting Pounded!!! :-P

The final level, beat this and you can rest happy, knowing you got the badge. (Don’t forget to save!!!)

There is nothing more to say, this is it, all your time compiled into 12, last tanks, your enemies final assault, they are pulling out all the stops and you feel surrounded… Be careful Captain, the enemy has numbers, and you may not make it through this battle…

If you die, keep trying till you win, that is the importance of the Save feature.

Congratulations when you beat the game, and I hope I helped you. If you did not understand something in that long, long, long thing up there ^^ then here is a summary!

SUMMARY

After level one buy a damage upgrade, use your own judgment of when to buy, vs get more money via interest. Buy a sticky shield before level 7, buy a static shield sometime closer to level 20-30, and buy energy upgrades for it. Whenever you finish a level use the Repair upgrade for $50, and always carry some repair kits(towards level 30-40 always keep 9) DO NOT FORGET TO REPAIR YOURSELF AFTER LEVELS!!!

Try to keep sufficient damage to kill enemies in one hit as long as possible.

Bonus upgrades… (Order to buy) Heatseeker, Antimatter, EMP, The Exploder, and some interest sprinkled in whenever you feel like it.

Make sure to stock up on repair kits, upgrade your base, get the Sticky and Static shields, get the extra energy for the static shield, and do not make stupid mistakes, but in case you do… ALWAYS SAVE!!! Especially around level 30-40 and up until you finish the game.

Hotkeys:

Antimatter Shield = Spacebar

Static Shield(always on, no hotkeys)

Pause = “P”

Use Repair Kit = “R”

That’s all I know right now, will update if it needs updating!!!

~~~Bradley (aka crazycruiser)
Feel free to add me as a friend and find me while I’m in chat if you need help on any badges… I’m there for you guys!
Interview
mxmod500 (6:20:50 PM): Hey, how are you?
Nosniv123 (6:20:54 PM): not bad, yourself
sportingfool524 (6:20:58 PM): Welcome, welcome... =)
mxmod500 (6:20:59 PM): doing pretty good
sportingfool524 (6:21:02 PM): Glad you could make it.
Nosniv123 (6:21:10 PM): me too!
mxmod500 (6:21:23 PM): Likewise
sportingfool524 (6:22:28 PM): So, first things first? When should we expect Beta Testing by users to start?
Nosniv123 (6:23:36 PM): Haha, well I definitely can't give you an answer for that. The only thing I can say is it should be soon, we are quickly approaching something we would like to get out to some beta testers.
mxmod500 (6:24:12 PM): I know I signed up to beta test myself, any idea as to just how many testers you're looking at?
mxmod500 (6:25:09 PM): I know many users are very excited to see what the cards they have been earning for so long can do finally
Nosniv123 (6:26:18 PM): I believe for the very first round we will probably keep the group somewhat small, just to make sure things are stable enough.
Nosniv123 (6:26:23 PM): If that is looking good, I imagine we would fairly quickly ramp up the number. Quite a few people have signed up to test.
sportingfool524 (6:26:55 PM): So, I heard from JimGreer the other day that the main way you pick BetaTesters will be according to their level, is this true?
Nosniv123 (6:28:24 PM): I believe that will be true initially. We want people who are familiar with Kongregate, as well as people who have a decent variety of cards to play with.
Nosniv123 (6:28:29 PM): Once testing gets rolling though, I can't say what our method of selecting tests will be.
Nosniv123 (6:28:44 PM): I have to keep splitting these messages up, it is telling me they are too large
sportingfool524 (6:29:03 PM): Oh, I see, haha... No problem, I will cut them down into one paragrpah.
mxmod500 (6:30:08 PM): Now, I know Greg has mentioned this but I'm not sure what the word is for it. There was talk of being able to earn older cards that people have missed. Any news on that?
Nosniv123 (6:31:07 PM): Yes, players who are new to Kongregate will definitely be able to go back and get previously released cards. The 're-released' cards will more than likely be a different edition, meaning they will look slightly different.
sportingfool524 (6:31:34 PM): How exactly will it be formatted? All at once... or will you do 2 cards for a couple weeks, etc.?
mxmod500 (6:31:46 PM): So will there be a 'earned cards' page similar to the badges?
mxmod500 (6:31:52 PM): or yeah :P
Nosniv123 (6:32:38 PM): I don't believe it will be all at once, but I'm not the most informed person on that subject at this point in time
mxmod500 (6:34:06 PM): Alright, well I'm currently looking at the rulesheet (http://www.kongregate.com/pages/kongai-rulesheet) and, about the actual game appearance, what all can we expect from an animation standpoint?
sportingfool524 (6:34:45 PM): Also, how are the new styles meshing with the old, I saw one picture... but what are you personal feelings on changing artists? Can we expect more artists to be added?
Nosniv123 (6:35:13 PM): So the sprites themselves only have a single frame, but there are plenty of animations for all the different attacks, etc. Think Final Fantasy 2 or 3 style animations.
Nosniv123 (6:35:37 PM): The interface has also been completely changed since that screenshot, as well, it is a lot more open.
Nosniv123 (6:36:18 PM): I believe we will be adding more artists, but I really don't have much to do with that decision. From what I've seen of the new art vs the old it seems to blend fairly well once it is in the game itself.
sportingfool524 (6:37:13 PM): Wil there be a ChatBox for you to talk in Kong Chat while playing the game?
Nosniv123 (6:37:38 PM): Yes
sportingfool524 (6:37:50 PM): There has been talk of tournaments that will hosted by kong, on Kongai... Is this true?
sportingfool524 (6:38:01 PM): If so, do you know what the "Prizes" will be?
Nosniv123 (6:38:40 PM): I hope so! One of the goals of Kongai is to have it be a very competitive game that sticks around for a very long time. I wouldn't have any ideas about the prizes, however.
mxmod500 (6:39:10 PM): Is there a single-player mode? Will information about wins, losses, and draws from multiplayer (and single if it exists) be recorded and displayed on user
mxmod500 (6:39:16 PM): 's profiles?
mxmod500 (6:39:20 PM): oops ^_^;;
sportingfool524 (6:39:26 PM): Here are some questions straight from Kong chat...The_Chosen_One: Any plans on upgrading the game? A followup? Continuation. Like for most IRL cardgames they have an expansion pack.
sportingfool524 (6:39:46 PM): Any plans for a Kongai 2? Or will you just update the game?
sportingfool524 (6:39:55 PM): Of course, not to get ahead of ourselves
Nosniv123 (6:40:17 PM): There will be a simple single-player mode which will allow players to become more familiar with the game before jumping into the scary world of multiplayer.
Nosniv123 (6:40:36 PM): As for expansions, I have no idea on that yet of course, but we plan to release plenty more characters and items.
sportingfool524 (6:40:48 PM): That brings up another question. Will single player be a Tutorial, or will there be a Career mode?
Nosniv123 (6:41:11 PM): We will record statistics for the multiplayer games, as well, such as wins losses, etc.
mxmod500 (6:41:20 PM): And is there potential to unlock special cards for completion or achievement in said modes?
Nosniv123 (6:41:50 PM): Currently single player is planned to be more of a tutorial mode for players to get a taste of the game.
Nosniv123 (6:42:21 PM): Of course, it will be hooked into the normal achievement system just like any other game, so those things are all possible.
sportingfool524 (6:44:01 PM): I know you planned to release this game much earlier, in last year. What has taken so long? Unseen bugs? Or just the normal delays that any game will under-go in the attempts to make it perfect?
Nosniv123 (6:46:01 PM): There has basically been a ton of iteration on the game to make sure it is what we wanted it to be. The other large factor is that Kongregate has grown exponentially in the past year, so we had to
Nosniv123 (6:46:21 PM): put a lot of engineering effort toward stabilizing and growing the site
mxmod500 (6:48:13 PM): Have been any new changes to the rules and gameplay system that are not currently reflected on the rule sheet?
mxmod500 (6:48:16 PM): I know you said the interface was completely re-worked so I was wondering if that brought along any actual gameplay changes.
Nosniv123 (6:48:38 PM): The basic gameplay remains the same, however we are constantly making balance changes to the characters and items.
sportingfool524 (6:50:19 PM): So, does this mean that the item cards we have, with the statistics like this one "Ring of Curses; Each time you're hit by an attack, the attacks hit rate is reduced by 5% for 10 turns"
sportingfool524 (6:50:31 PM): Can we expect that stat to chage by the time the game comes out?
Nosniv123 (6:51:01 PM): I wouldn't say you can expect it to change, but it is definitely a possibility for any given item or character.
Nosniv123 (6:51:22 PM): These things will more than likely change throughout the beta as well, that is one of the purposes of testing
mxmod500 (6:52:37 PM): In regards to the different battle modes, i see there is a 3-card, 5-card, and 5-card with items. Any future plans to make larger modes or modes that allow for 2 players to battle 2 other players?
Nosniv123 (6:53:21 PM): Anything is possible in the future, but there are no plans for 2v2 currently. We're focused on finishing what we have already planned
sportingfool524 (6:54:18 PM): Which is what exactly? A tutorial, and 1v1 multiplayer? Or will there be something beyond that?
Nosniv123 (6:55:34 PM): Single player and 1v1 multiplayer are the only game modes currently planned, as far as I know.
sportingfool524 (6:55:52 PM): Another Chat question: Eldavo: How similar will this be to other CCGs? What can we expect to really set this apart?
sportingfool524 (6:56:37 PM): Why would we play this game on the internet, rather than play.. Magic the Gathering with some friends? Cost aside.
Nosniv123 (6:57:16 PM): Well, first of all I just want to point out that David Sirlin did a brilliant design for this game. The thing that really sets it apart, in my opinion, is how easy it is to get started playing, and how difficult it is to master.
Nosniv123 (6:57:18 PM): The whole intercept/switch out mechanic makes for a lot of interesting moments, as well.
Nosniv123 (6:57:42 PM): Well, that's hard to say, why would you do anything on the computer if your friends were waiting for you to go hang out with them?
Nosniv123 (6:58:07 PM): I imagine the same appeal that most Internet games have, it isn't always convenient to meet up with people from across the world and play MTG.
Nosniv123 (6:58:55 PM): Gotta get going here soon guys, any final questions?
mxmod500 (7:00:11 PM): How soon do you expect a public statement to be released when the beta opens up to the first small user group?
mxmod500 (7:00:24 PM): Or will it be done completely by email?
Nosniv123 (7:01:28 PM): I imagine we will send the testers an email and make an announcement on the forums, possibly the main page.
sportingfool524 (7:02:39 PM): Oh that's fine, my final question... What do you think the response will be? Will the game match up to all the expectations set by having the majority of the staff work soley on this game, even while neglecting the site a bit? What I mean is... Is it worth it?
Send Message Failed. Message is too long.
sportingfool524 (7:02:53 PM): Oh that's fine, my final question... What do you think the response will be? Will the game match up to all the expectations set by having the majority of the staff work soley on this game, even while neglecting the site a bit?
sportingfool524 (7:02:58 PM): What I mean is... Is it worth it?
Nosniv123 (7:05:04 PM): Well, all I can say is that the first time I was able to play the game (in a very early state, near PAX) it was incredibly fun. I was really shocked at how fun it was.
Nosniv123 (7:05:06 PM): We also got a very good response from people at PAX, as well as a few other early testers.
Nosniv123 (7:05:29 PM): In short, I have no doubt in my mind it will be worth it.
Nosniv123 (7:05:39 PM): Also, we had to do SOMETHING with all those cards anyway, right?
sportingfool524 (7:06:00 PM): Thats great, I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to us, maybe again closer in the future?
mxmod500 (7:06:11 PM): Well, I know I'm definitely excited for Kongai's release! It was great getting to meet and talk with you. Thanks for taking the time to answer questions with us.
Nosniv123 (7:07:10 PM): You're welcome, and thanks for all the work you guys do, it is quite appreciated.
sportingfool524 (7:07:47 PM): No problem, we're just here to serve, I know I do it because I've mooched off of plenty of guides in my day! Take care Ben, hope to see you in the future!
Nosniv123 (7:08:23 PM): See you around!
